Once people have invented something it seems that they cannot just leave well enough alone. There is an old axiom that counsels, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Humanity, it seems is incapable of understanding this rather simple approach to the way the world works and are forever trying to tinker with things to make them work better, faster, more efficiently. Not that there is anything wrong with this approach to improving the way that the world works. Take, for example, the case of ignition systems in the cars that we drive or in any combustion engine that is available today. There is a veritable plethora of different types that have come about because of this tinkering like the PerTronix Flame-Thrower.
The PerTronix Flame-Thrower is one of many different brands of ignition systems available today. An ignition system is a system that is used to ignite a fuel-air mixture. Most often it refers to the internal combustion engines like those found in cars and other engine-driven vehicles like planes and boats. These systems are also sometimes used in other places like oil- or gas-fired boilers. Amongst the earliest inventions of ignition systems often used a flame or a tube that was heated to a high temperature. Thankfully it was replaced by using an electric spark that was considerably safer to all those involved.
While the PerTronix Flame-Thrower is a more modern version of an ignition system there were some other before people eventually reached the modern ones that are being used today in most applications. Some of the old systems are still being used as redundant systems or have found a place in home appliances where their limited capability is more than enough for a small device. Three of the most important historical, as it were, ignition systems was the magneto systems that spun a magnet inside a coil to produce a spark, switchable systems that built on the magneto systems but made it more reliable, and battery operated ignition that is still being used in many applications to this day. The more modern approaches are much more reliable - and safer - than many of these old methods.
Today ignition systems can be mechanically time ignition systems that are used I most vehicles, electronic ignition systems, and digital ignition systems that are much smaller and have found uses in a variety of handheld devices from chainsaws to leaf blowers. The PerTronix Flame-Thrower ignition system falls these modern categories allowing performance that is better than what you are likely to find in your average car. As per usual, they cannot leave well enough alone - they have to keep tinkering to make it better.
So perhaps tinkering with things is the way forward. That may be, but there are times when it is better to leave things as they are. The ignition systems that have come about because of all this tinkering - like the PetTronix Flame-Thrower - has certainly made life a lot easier and safer. But one of these days they are going to tinker with something they should not have and who know what might happen?
