One of my favorite vehicles right now is my 1990 Ford Super Duty Flatbed truck. This is a real monster and will pass everything but a gas station seeing that it has a 460 motor and a 6 mpg rate of fuel consumption. I've seen a number of trucks in my time but I've only seen one other truck that is almost exactly like mine. Instead of having an 8 bolt lug pattern on each wheel, mine has a 10 bolt lug pattern. I've been told that this type of configuration indicates that the truck is a 2 ton model - primarily built for ambulances and tow trucks.
My particular truck has been used mostly for hauling hay and livestock but either way, empty or fully loaded, it gets 6 miles per gallon. Being a "dually", one of the only downfalls of this truck besides the high rate of gas consumption, is that it can easily be stuck in the mud or in the snow if the flatbed isn't weighted down with alot of hay. Otherwise, this truck is a real workhorse.
I've been considering upgrading the electronic ignition system, possibly adding one or more of the Jacobs products. I'd like to hear from anyone who has a truck like mine or who has a 460 gas motor that they've upgraded beyond the OEM specs.
